Historic Buildings in Fairhaven and Bellingham

As many of you know, Bellingham has a number of buildings that were constructed in the late 19th, and early 20th century. The Fairhaven Library and the Terminal Building are both structures located in Fairhaven on the National Historic Register, but there are also registers at the state and municipal level that encompass over 44 structures in all throughout Bellingham.

The City of Bellingham has also taken an active role in promoting historic areas with the Historic Preservation Committee, an appointed body, that deals with recommending which historic registry the buildings are listed on, in addition to serving as a liaison to the public regarding city history.

More information can be found at the City of Bellingham website, www.cob.org including municipal, state, and federal historic registry lists, information about how to research your own house, as well as historic photographs and neighborhood specific historical inventories.
